Oracle Java 7 in Debian 6.0.6 Squeeze

# echo “deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main” > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
# echo “deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main” >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
# apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys EEA14886
# apt-get update
# apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

alan@debian:~$ java -version
java version “1.7.0_07”
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_07-b10)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode)

alan@debian:~$ javac -version
javac 1.7.0_07

    this worked for me. but keep in mind wordpress changes the double quotes and double minus. so use ” and —
